The fabrication isometric and the 3D model serve different working needs, but they must describe the same governed piping identity. When tags, component counts, specifications, or revisions diverge, the project loses confidence long before the discrepancy reaches the field.
Reconciliation, not replacement
The isometric remains an approved engineering deliverable. The model remains the coordinated object environment. A federated registry connects both through line number, component identity, specification, service, document revision, and source references.
Deterministic checks can then test required fields, duplicate identities, count differences, and incompatible revisions. The output is not an automatic design decision. It is an exception list with enough evidence for piping engineering to resolve.
One manifest
Each reconciliation run should preserve the exact inputs, rules, timestamp, results, and unresolved exceptions. That manifest makes the next run comparable and prevents a changed export from silently becoming the new truth.
The principle is simple: one asset identity, multiple authoritative representations, and one auditable record of how they agree—or where they do not.
